Fire Protection for Data Centres

Typically, a data centre is an enclosed volume featuring a subfloor area and a specialised HVAC system. The modern data centre contains more equipment and processes more critical information than ever before, making the loss of data or fire-related downtime even greater risks. These vital installations are susceptible to fires caused by overheated electronic components, faulty wiring, power surges, lightning strikes, arsonists and in today’s world, terrorists.

SUPPRESSION

Kidde ECS Series FM-200® Fire Suppression System

The Kidde ECS Series FM-200 Fire Suppression System combines rapid detection with integrated control and clean fire suppression to provide automatic 24/7 protection. High sensitivity smoke detection provides an extra margin of time to facility managers to investigate the fire event in its earliest stages and often prevent the need for the suppression system activation. It’s backed by a network of intelligent detectors and a multiprocessor-based control unit to sound alarms and trigger the release of FM-200, a clean, non-toxic, environmentally-friendly gaseous agent into the protected enclosure.

Kidde Engineered System Designed for Use with 3M™ Novec™ 1230 Fire Protection Fluid

The Kidde Engineered System Designed for use with 3M Novec 1230 Fire Protection Fluid provides clean fire protection that is safe for people and the environment. There’s zero Ozone Depletion Potential and the lowest Global Warming Potential of any halon replacement agent. The Kidde System is also engineered to discharge within ten seconds to stop fires before they can damage sensitive equipment, destroy data or cause major business interruption.

Inert Gas Fire Suppression System

Inert gas fire suppression systems use naturally occurring gases like nitrogen, argon, and carbon dioxide to extinguish fires by reducing the oxygen concentration in a protected area. These systems are environmentally friendly, safe for humans, and cause minimal damage to equipment.

DETECTION

Kidde Senator HSSD® System

Laser-based high-sensitivity-smoke detection system designed to detect fire in the incipient stage. Recommended for critical facilities such as data centres. Thousands of times more sensitive than conventional detectors, the Kidde Senator employs particle size discrimination technology to reduce the occurrence of nuisance alarms. System consists of a detector head, piping network and optional LCD display module.
